We love the outdoors, and we love hiking. But we also know that sleeping under the stars isn't for everyone. We thought  there must be a way to combine the best aspects of backpacking—outdoor exercise, quality time with friends and family, unparalleled access to wildlife and natural beauty—with the satisfaction of settling into warm food and a cozy bed at the end of a long day. At Country Mile Vermont, we strive to perfect this balance.

We are based in the beautiful Mad River Valley and offer all-inclusive inn-to-inn walking tours. Guided day hikes are also available for guests in the Mad River Valley, Waterbury, Stowe, and Montpelier areas. Learn more about our local inn partners by clicking here!

Country Mile Vermont is a small, locally owned and operated company, so you can count on small group sizes and personal attention to the details of your custom walking tour. We love what we do, and we love Vermont. Come walk a few "country miles" with us and we think you'll see why!

Every Country Mile Vermont tour is uniquely customized to suit your goals and abilities. An inn-to-inn walking tour is an unforgettable adventureour best advice is to expect the unexpected! With that said, each Country Mile Vermont inn-to-inn walking tour includes all lodging, meals, luggage transport between inns, and meticulously planned hiking routes. In the morning you will have breakfast at the inn, pack up, then spend most of the day walking at your own pace through Vermont's beautiful countryside, stopping for lunch and snacks wherever you choose. Upon arriving at your next inn, you will have an opportunity to refresh and clean up before  dinner. You may also choose to enjoy some of Vermont's fine local beer, but don't forget to rest upthe adventure starts all over again the next day!

A word of advice: Vermont ain't flat! Though we do our best to accommodate all ability levels, there is no getting around this simple topographical fact of life in the Green Mountain state (see "What is a Country Mile?" in our FAQ section). While Vermont is not the Alaskan wilderness, you will likely spend several hours (or a whole day, depending on your route) without encountering other people, and cell service can be spotty. We are here to assist as much as possible, but you won't be able to call a cab if it starts raining. Rest assured that we will do our best to prepare you for each day of your journey. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions!
